Teen charged over stolen Jeep

A 19-YEAR-OLD Moss­man man has been charged with sev­eral of­fences af­ter steal­ing a $40,000 Jeep and set­ting it on fire.

The Jeep Wran­gler was re­ported stolen in Port Dou­glas on the evening of May 7 from Pep­pers Beach Club on David­son St.

The skele­tal-re­mains of the burnt-out ve­hi­cle were dis­cov- ered five-weeks later be­hind a cane field by a farmer off Moss­man-Mount Mol­loy Rd in Cas­sowary.

The man was charged with steal­ing of­fences, un­law­ful use of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle and ar­son and was held in cus­tody last week be­fore ap­pear­ing in Cairns Mag­is­trates’ court and re­leased on bail to reap­pear at a later date.
