Sharon’s leaving

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

AFTER three-and-a-half years in Port Douglas, respected senior constable Sharon Butler is switching her uniform for plain clothes and transferring to Cairns.

Senior Constable Butler is transferring into a different division and into street wear as she gears up for a new challenge.

All the same she said she had thoroughly enjoyed working in Port Douglas.

“It’s time for a change, I’ve been doing general duties for eight-years-now and I’ve loved living in this town and have made lots of friends,” she said.

“A fond memory was an elderly lady had lost her tour group and was frantic because she didn’t want to be left behind and I put her in the front seat and we drove around until I found her group.. she was really appreciative.

“You wouldn’t want to police anywhere else, for general duties this is the most beautiful small town and they respect you as a person and as a police officer.

“Thank you everyone for your support and for always being welcoming and gracious.”
