Yoga group humbled
THE PORT Douglas Yoga community has been inspired by its recent month-long visit to India, the home of Yoga.
The community made up of accredited practitioners in Port Douglas, Mossman, Wonga Beach and Julatten visited the Taj Mahal and a school of 126 students, to share yoga tips.
“It was wonderful, they did some yoga for us and adored prints of Australian animals Fran donated that the children had never seen before,” Shirley Lloyds said.
The group handed out crayons to the students of the school run by local mayor Maharani Rohini who opened the school in 2000 to educate the local village children while sponsoring 23 children herself.
“We admired her and what she does and we want to support the children because parents often pull the children out to work because they can’t afford to keep them there,” Ms Lloyds said.
In a bid to raise further funds for the school a new and used treasure’s sale, featuring beautiful Indian scarves and handbags, will be held at the CWA Hall, Front St Mossman this Saturday from 7.30am to 2pm.
