Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

EVER smashed a tile and realised it was pretty? Then head down to the Douglas Arts Base this Saturday for a Mosaic workshop.

Tutor Sam Mathews specialises in both glass and ceramic mosaics and has even covered a guitar in mosaic.

“I’m self-taught, I started with the bathroom floor and went from there, I’m a landscape gardener so it works in with my trade,” she said.

“A friend once said you’d mosaic anything that sits still and was surprised I hadn’t mosaiced the guitar and I thought wow, what a fantastic idea.

“The workshop will teach how to do a basic mosaic. We’re going to do some little flat projects to fit in, in three hours and I will grout it for them so they get something out of the course.”

The three-hour course is from 1.30pm-4.30pm this Saturday and costs around $25, including materials. Numbers are filling fast so call DAB as soon as possible on 4098 3337, or enrol online www. dabmossman.com
