Clarification

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

THE headline to an article in the Gazette on May 31 “Weapons of mass floor covering” was meant to highlight the absurdity of local Persian carpet dealer Omid Master being unable to pay a supplier.

The article related to interference by the American Government organisation Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) which blocked Mr Master’s payment to a supplier who bought silks in Iran because of trade sanctions.

Mr Master is obviously in no way associated and under suspicion of being involved in any illegal or suspicious behaviour by OFAC or any other authority.
