Gorge centre open

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

IT IS official, the new Mossman Gorge centre is a hit with overseas’ visitors set to match or better the regions hottest attractions.

Alisa Garcia and her family from Austin Texas were the first paying visitors to the centre when yesterday morning they purchased tickets to ride one of the shuttle buses that will transport people from the centre into the gorge.

“We’ve just arrived here at the centre but from what we’ve seen so far it looks really beautiful and this will be a fantastic experience to take back home and share with my friends,” she said.

“This is the first time we have been to Far North Queensland and we absolutely love it. We especially love the cool weather because in Austin this year we just have not had a winter and it’s been 100 degrees and more each day and so this is wonderful,” Ms Garcia said.

Asked how she knew about the new centre Ms Garcia said she saw it advertised in a brochure and decided to come along and have a look for themselves.

“Today is our first day here and so we wanted to come and see the new Mossman Gorge Centre and see what’s on offer and what tours are available so we can go out and explore this marvellous looking region,” Ms Garcia said.

“We have been to the Great Barrier Reef already and that was simply stunning . . . magical. You guys are so lucky to have that on your doorstep and we will be going to visit the Daintree as well.

“And the people are just so free and laid back here and makes being on holidays a real joy.”

The Garcia family will be holidaying in the region for three weeks and then flying to Sydney and then Melbourne and then home to Austin.
