ASPIR­ING young writ­ers have un­til July 13 to en­ter their short story in State Li­brary of Queens­land’s Young Writ­ers Award for a chance to win $2000 cash.

State Li­brar­i­anJanette Wright said the com­pe­ti­tion, open to Queens­lan­ders aged 18 to 25, en­cour­aged young writ­ers to chan­nel their cre­ativ­ity and share the sto­ries that are im­por­tant to them.

“Now in its seven­teenth year, the Young Writ­ers Award is a great op­por­tu­nity for emerg­ing writ­ers, pro­vid­ing in­valu­able in­dus­try ex­po­sure,” she said.

“Whether you’re a notepad scrib­bler, a cre­ative writ­ing stu­dent, or just have a great story to tell, I en­cour­age you to let the words flow and see where it takes you,” Ms Wright said.
