Op­er­a­tion Cold Snap

TO­MOR­ROW af­ter­noon is the of­fi­cial start to the school hol­i­days and to a state-wide police cam­paign tar­get­ing the fa­tal four.

Op­er­a­tion Cold Snap will see ex­tra police on our roads, in­clud­ing the traf­fic branch and will tar­get drink-driv­ing, speed­ing, fa­tigue and bad driver be­hav­iour in­clud­ing not wear­ing seat­belts and us­ing mo­bile phones while driv­ing.

“There will be speed de­tec­tion, breatht­est­ing and driver re­vivers dur­ing the June-July school hol­i­days,” Port Dou­glas Act­ing-Of­fi­cerin-Charge Alan Dempsey said.

“Be aware that we will be on the roads in con­junc­tion with the traf­fic depart­ment over that pe­riod, you’ve been warned.”
