Satur­day saw a hand full of reg­u­lar shoot­ers turn up for an­other day at the range.

Nor­bert Sch­midt was the first to take aim in the 400 me­ter F Class (me­chan­i­cally sup­ported with tele­scopic sights) 10 shot match.

Nor­bert opened with a per­fect cen­tre shot fol­lowed by a 5 which he opted to keep then went on to shoot a string of bulls eyes (6’s ) and dead cen­tres (X’s) and a few 5’s to fin­ish with 58/4out of 60.

Steve Cruick­shank was next on the mound in the 308 F Class match, Steve let cut his first two sighters and then went on to shoot a mixed bag of 4’s,5’s and 6’s for a low first round score of 49/0.

Rob Wearne was next on the mound to take aim in the Full Bore (man­u­ally sup­ported open sights) 308 10 shot match.

Rob opted to cut his sighters and went on to shoot a pretty av­er­age score of 44/0 out of a pos­si­ble 50.

Last on the mound was Neil Attwood in the Full Bore 400 me­tre match.

Neil opened with two bulls eye sighters and then went on to shoot a mixed bag of 4’s and 5’s for a first round score of 46/0 out of a pos­si­ble 50.

Nor­bert was back down for his sec­ond 400 me­tre 11 shot match, Nor­bert opened with two bulls eyes(6’s) and then let loose a string of 5’s, 6’s and dead cen­tres(X) to fin­ish with 63/3 out of 66.

Steve was next on the range for his sec­ond at­tempt in the 400 me­tre 11 shot match. Steve opened with 4’s which he cut then went on to shoot a much bet­ter round with 5’s and 6’s and one X, to fin­ish 59/1.

Rob was back down for his sec­ond 400 me­tre Full Bore match opening with two 5’s which he kept, then went on to shoot an­other mixed bag of scores with 3’s,4’s,5’s and two V bulls to fin­ish with 48/2

Neil was back on the mound for his sec­ond range. Neil opened with a 4 and a 5, he cut the 4 and went on to shoot all over the place, not able to find the V bull he was look­ing for, Neil posted a dis­ap­point­ing sec­ond score of 38/0 out of a pos­si­ble 55.

Nor­bert Sch­midt posted a fi­nal score of 121/7 out of a pos­si­ble 126 in the the F Class com­pe­ti­tion fol­lowed by Steve Cruick­shank with a very low fi­nal score of 108/1 out of a pos­si­ble 126.

Rob Wearne took the hon­ours in the Full bore comp with a fi­nal tally of 92/2 out of a pos­si­ble 105 fol­lowed by Neil Attwood with a be­low av­er­age fi­nal score of 84/0.

Tar­get Shoot­ing is held each Satur­day at 1:00pm on the range half-way be­tween Port Dou­glas and Moss­man on the Cook High­way. Vis­i­tors are wel­come to come and view or par­tic­i­pate.

The Um­pire ed­u­ca­tion pro­gram was headed by um­pire Lynne Kin­rade and held over two time slots giv­ing the learner um­pires, ju­nior and se­nior prac­ti­cal train­ing with um­pire men­tors on games played af­ter their ed­u­ca­tion ses­sion. The teams played in a re­laxed for­mat mix­ing together as re­quired which gave the teams an op­por­tu­nity to play other teams out­side of their grades. Thanks Lynne Kin­rade for run­ning the pro­gram and to um­pires Bon­nie & Kyah Fran­cis, Sascha Lowen­stein-Jones, Cariter Ben­nett, Tiah McLean, Keely Harold, Leah Nash, Lana Baxter, Holly Brown, Dakota Bowen, Mar­ley Cairns, Eleisha Meal­ing, Tayler Durie, Saisha Scho­nen­berger, Shan­non Lin­coln, Jade Reed, Karla Lo­gan, Mikaela Good­win, Vanessa Wood, Jane Gwilliams and all se­nior um­pires in train­ing and men­tors Marta Smith, Nichelle Pitt, Cas­san­dra Hill, Aimee Wat­son, Dani Bellero, Corrine Durie and Ali­son Richard­son.

When we re­turn af­ter the hol­i­days Dou­glas Netball would like to in­tro­duce af­ter the last Se­nior game a short um­pires rules dis­cus­sion ses­sion in the club room to con­tinue on­go­ing um­pire ed­u­ca­tion, this will be held by Lynne Kin­rade, she will be avail­able to an­swer any um­pir­ing ques­tions/in­ci­dents that have arisen over your prac­ti­cal um­pir­ing game. The Se­nior Draw is­sued on Tues­day is sub­ject to change with the um­pir­ing, any amend­ments will be emailed out and the draw will be posted each week on Face­book.

Spe­cial men­tion to best & fairest win­ner in Di­vi­sion 2 last week (12th June) for the RingIns team, Cath Baxter.

Dou­glas Netball held it’s AGM last Tues­day the 12th June at 6pm, the meet­ing was chaired by Jenny El­phin­stone in the ab­sence of Pres­i­dent Co­ral Deen (Dou­glas Netball mem­bers ex­tend their col­lec­tive best wishes to Co­ral and fam­ily who are cur­rently away due to a fam­ily ill­ness). A new com­mit­tee was elected: Pres­i­dent Sharon Beechey, Vice Pres­i­dent Corrine Durie, Sec­re­tary Treveen Page, Trea­surer Dani Bellero, Reg­is­trar Tracey Pashen, Ju­nior Con­venor Sharon Beechey, Pub­lic­ity Of­fi­cer Rachael Ram­say & An­gela Pringle, Fundrais­ing/Sponsorship Of­fi­cer Wolver­ines Team, Spe­cial Events Co-Or­di­na­tor Crocs Teams, Gen­eral Com­mit­tee Laura Gray. Thanks to all who at­tended and to mem­bers who put their hands up to be a part of the Dou­glas Netball As­so­ci­a­tion’s Com­mit­tee we ap­pre­ci­ate your as­sis­tance, with­out your time and ef­forts there would not be a netball com­pe­ti­tion.

Dou­glas Netball would like to wish all mem­bers a safe and happy hol­i­day break, games will re­sume Tues­day the July 10th.
