Mossman Community Centre
THE Mossman Community Centre has never been more accessible.
Lend Lease has donated resources to building a new ramp access to the Mossman Community Centre main building and also building an all-abilities access toilet and shower facility at another building on the grounds called The Cottage.
The Lend Lease Springboard program is in full swing at the centre also with cement down and pillars up on an extension to the Men’s Shed, to provide another work area so more than two people can work with the tools at once.
The all-abilities group is working on building a roof over the veranda at the flexi respite centre so those who visit and work there can enjoy the veranda at all times without suffering from the heat or rain.
A recreational garden is also being developed by the all-abilities group with a large chess-board in the garden and lawn bowls.
Work around the centre is underway including maintaining the vegetable, herb and fruit gardens, installing computers and wifi and washing machine facilities, which can all be utilised by the community.
“It’s been fabulous, we’ve have people from all around the world and Australia coming to help and brining different energy with them and it has been fun harnessing that and putting it into our community,” community counsellor Michelle Philp said.
“Everything is on target and we will have hopefully everything finished and then more - we have a little wish list that always seems to get longer.”
