Gorge breaks 10,000

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

MORE than 10,000 people have passed through the doors of the Mossman Gorge Centre since it officially opened just two weeks ago.

The 10,000th visitor passed through yesterday, with the centre’s general manager Greg Erwin explaining he couldn’t have dreamed of a better start.

“We are thrilled by the number of people who have visited the centre and taken tours to the Gorge and had a good look around the centre and who had lunch with us as well,” he said.

“The staff were brilliant, and you have to remember this is the first time most of the staff have had to deal with the public and serve them and ensure their visit was as smooth and as enjoyable as possible.

“And to this end they really shone, I cannot thank them enough and they all worked extremely well together.

“The feedback from the tourists, and locals, was also extremely positive - everyone has done an outstanding job.”

The centre is providing employment to almost 70 local indigenous workers.
