Daintree audio guides

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - BUSINESS -

A FUN and interactive children’s audio guide has just been introduced to the Daintree Discovery Centre to add a whole new perspective to nature-based learning.

The award winning centre is a world class interpretive facility nestled in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest and boasts a spectacular aerial walkway leading to a 23m-high canopy tower.

Daintree Discovery Centre director and former teacher Pam Birkett said the selfguided audio tour was developed in direct response to customer demand from schools as well as parents.”

The script was written with the help of primary school teachers and aims to be entertaining yet educational for children.

The innovative children’s audio tour offers short snippets of interesting information at every audio station - the aerial walkway, the canopy tower, the cassowary circuit and bush tucker trail - just like the adult audio tour, so families can learn and explore together.

Local school teacher and mother of two primary school students Linda Vearing said: “Our family goes camping in Cape Tribulation area every year and we always call into the Discovery Centre on our way.

“We learn something new each time and with the new children’s audio tour, interactive touchscreens in the display centre and the guide book, the kids are having fun and learning at the same time.”
