Kids kicking goals

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK -

CONGRATULATIONS to the more than 200 children who participated in the Douglas United Football Club’s annual Junior Small Sided Football Carnival held at the club’s Cassowary Park grounds recently.

Thanks to the coaches, parents and seniors who assisted in preparing the club house and grounds and the smooth running of the carnival on the day.

Particular thanks to Linton and Tara Quirk for their devotion to the canteen and to the Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas for sponsorship.

It was fantastic to see so many players and their families travelling from Cairns for the event with many of them advising they would consider again visiting Port Douglas and the surrounding area.

Also, the Douglas United Football Club recently hosted a local primary school gala day for more than 80 children of school Years 4 to 7.

It was brilliant to see so many children “have a go” and try the sport.

The club is appreciative of the teachers coaching on the day and to Tony Too our Under-11 club coach.

Well done to all the children who participated in good sportsmanship and who were well behaved, polite and courteous.

The children’s respect for the club equipment and assistance in putting out and putting away equipment reflects the good teaching in our local schools.

The club offers programs for children aged three years to Under-11s and details are available from the club’s website www. dufc.com.au .

The club is actively seeking children aged Uner-11 to join up and interest of youth wanting to train and start up teams for 2013.

Looking forward to the next gala day - bring it on.
