Bowls championships tight
ANOTHER round of championship pairs competition on Saturday saw G Wilmot and J Girgenti hold a tight lead over J Boadle and A McDonald 21-18 while D Johnson and N Tesch defeated J Sellars and T Pisot 24-11.
In the social games, D Head, B Hande and J Fary defeated A Douglas, Andy Christie and C Maxted 19-16, G Marsh and Kiwi defeated Dick Pitt and Doug Pitt 24-18, S Chatterton, T Pitt and P Gorsuch defeated J Beazley, J Maxwell and J Bull 26-14, and the meat trays went to B Davies, P Cleary and E Verbi who defeated D Power, C Wills and D Blain 27-13.
Next Saturday’s social bowls will be a memorial day to John Hocking with games commencing at 1pm with registrations due by noon. All bowlers are welcome and mufti dress is ok for non-full members. Full members are asked to wear whites.
On Sunday B-grade singles will be played between R Ashford and S Jellis while handicap singles will be between B Wolland (-5) and T Pisot (+2).
And in the ladies results, social bowls was played with 15 ladies competing. Winners were Maree Crees, Val Franzi and Carole Maxted. Runnersup were Jean Marsh, Margaret Cooper and Joan Day. The winner of the raffle winner was Glenise Sharp.
Graded pairs will be start today with Bev Zillfleisch, Margaret Cooper versus Janice Brlyack and Dot Kostyrka. Jean Marsh and Glenise Sharp versus Jan Gard and Estelle O’Rourke. Maria Mijo and Greta Kessler will play the final of the consistency with Robyn Petrus as the marker.
