Under-18s remain title threat

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

THE Port Douglas Crocs Under-18s remain in third spot despite their loss to Cairns Hawks last Wednesday.

With the Crocs low on regular numbers due to the school holidays, the boys fought right to the end against a quality opponent.

With Alex Forbes, Jack Lowe on a transfer permit and Jack Goodall working hard in the centre, the team gave the forwards good use of the ball with Mathew Westgate snapping two great goals.

A positive to come out of the night was the return of Michael Mckeown to the team after a long stint injured with a broken shoulder.

His return along with the good form from Jordan O’Gorman, Michael Pidgeon and Keegan O’Neill kept the team in the contest.

But in the end the Hawks proved too good on the night to win 71-47.

With a finals spot guaranteed and the return to the side of other injured players, the team needs to work hard in the five remaining games until the finals, with the team a big chance to win that elusive premiership.
