Five trapped

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

FIVE vehicles travelling along the CREB Track found themselves bogged because of recent wet weather this week but decided to make the most of a bad situation and camped out on the track.

The incident occurred last Sunday on the track between Daintree Village and Wujal Wujal and three of the vehicles self-extracted themselves. The two remaining vehicles had to be recovered by emergency services the following day.

There was no need for helicopters or emergency measures and the vehicles and their passengers had enough supplies for the night.

The local Wujal Wujal SES crew, with the assistance of locals, were able to recover the cars the following day.

Due to the ongoing winter rainfall the north is experiencing, the CREB Track is closed until further notice and police remind the public to take care on the road during wet weather.
