Six mini Dragons play at carnival

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

SIX boys from the Douglas United’s Eurotech Global Sports Under-10s team headed south during the school holidays to Townsville to participate in the Fillipo Mele Carnival.

The boys played in a 12-player combined team with players from Marlin Coast Rangers, Stratford United and the Southern Cross Strikers.

The Dragons’ representative players included Jack Carr, Jack Jenkins, Bailey Morrison, Charlie Dowling, Jake Read and Connor White.

The team played as Cairns Sharks Gold achieved two draws and eight wins with only one loss.

The matches gave the boys some much-needed competition and allowed them to display the high quality football skills they had recently exhibited at the recent interclub carnival where they were undefeated.

The carnivals have been a great learning curve in the boys’ physical and mental development to understand the game and team play.

The boys are back in training this week for their regular Saturday matches in Cairns and their efforts in Townsville is inspiring other local club members to also train hard and improve their own skills and techniques.
