Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

ADDITIONAL stakeholders will be invited to help formulate an economic development taskforce for Port Douglas.

Representatives from the Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Port Douglas Daintree, Advance Cairns and Kleinhardt Business Consultants along with Division 10 Councillor Julia Leu met last Friday to further a plan of action to revitalise the local economy.

The next step will be to consult with a broader audi- ence to identify the trends and driving forces behind the local economy and address the barriers to dealing with these by developing goals, strategies and clear action plans.

The taskforce will then attempt to build connectivity with governments and other key stakeholders and outline a structure which supports an ongoing economic development role.

The group will meet again on Friday to determine additional stakeholders.
