THE high­est amount of cap­i­tal projects fund­ing will be spent build­ing and re­pair­ing bridges in the Dou­glas re­gion.

Division 10 coun­cil­lor Ju­lia Leu pre­vi­ously an­nounced the ap­proval for projects to fix sev­eral bridges in the re­gion in crit­i­cal con­di­tion and the bud­get has backed this with over $3.6 mil­lion al­lo­cated for five bridges.

In Miallo, $580,000 has been al­lo­cated for Baio Bridge and $280,000 for Schultz Bridge, while in the Dain­tree $580,000 is ear­marked for Ste­wart Creek Bridge and $400,000 for Noah’s Creek Bridge.

The ma­jor­ity of the money is go­ing to Woobadda Creek, which has re­ceived $1.8 mil­lion for the con­struc­tion of a bridge af­ter lo­cals bat­tled to im­prove the cross­ing north of Cape Tribu­la­tion.
