THE highest amount of capital projects funding will be spent building and repairing bridges in the Douglas region.
Division 10 councillor Julia Leu previously announced the approval for projects to fix several bridges in the region in critical condition and the budget has backed this with over $3.6 million allocated for five bridges.
In Miallo, $580,000 has been allocated for Baio Bridge and $280,000 for Schultz Bridge, while in the Daintree $580,000 is earmarked for Stewart Creek Bridge and $400,000 for Noah’s Creek Bridge.
The majority of the money is going to Woobadda Creek, which has received $1.8 million for the construction of a bridge after locals battled to improve the crossing north of Cape Tribulation.
