St Au­gus­tine’s stage mini-olympics magic

ST AU­GUS­TINE’S students from Years 3 to 7 di­vided into seven coun­tries to con­duct their own mini-Olympics last Fri­day.

The students ro­tated be­tween sports in­clud­ing rugby, gym­nas­tics, hockey, fenc­ing, net­ball, tennis and nov­elty events with an ath­letic theme.

As part of the project, the students also stud­ied the coun­tries Aus­tralia, China, Brazil, South Africa, Uganda, Mex­ico and Ire­land to gain a bet­ter un­der­stand­ing of the Olympics be­fore they be­gan.

The Aus­tralian Sports Com­mis­sion or­gan­ised the event to en­cour­age students to par­tic­i­pate in sport.

The ASC runs ac­tive af­ter-school cen­tres at Goobidi, Moss­man State School and St Au­gus­tine’s.
