Moss­man golfers en­joy weather

THE Moss­man Golf Club hosted the Moss­man Quick­sil­ver Open and 160 play­ers en­joyed the first round played on Satur­day in pic­ture post­card weather con­di­tions, and Gen­nai Good­win pro­duced a ladies’ course record of 68.

Ear­lier in the week, Tues­day’s field of 54 play­ers com­peted in a Stable­ford event and Division 1 was won by D McCutcheon with 45 points, run­ner-up was John Cameron with 38 points.

Division 2 was won by Steve War­den with 43 points and run­ner-up was Q Dick with 40 points. Near­est the pins were Larry Smith on 6, Al­lan Harper on 10, Leon Baker on 13 and Peter Hornsby on 17. The win­ner of Wed­nes­day’s nine-hole event was Peter Gray with 22 points and the run­ner-up was N Foard on a count-back to John Deu­ble and B Smith. Near­est-the-pins were R Van Harde­veld on 10, Brett Deu­ble on 13 and John Deu­ble on 17.

The Thurs­day ladies’ event was won by Christie Bouwkamp with 39 points and sec­ond was Gayle Healey with 38 points and third was taken out by He­len Gabour with 37 points.

Near­est-the-pins were Christie on 6, Gayle on 8, H Atkins on 10 and 17 and Narelle John­son on 13.

The new spe­cial Fri­day Frolic (9 holes golf, shared mo­torised buggy and 6-pack in ice to share for $30 per player) was en­joyed by plenty of so­cial play­ers. For play­ers with hand­i­caps, the com­pe­ti­tion was won by J Wil­liams with 21 points on a count-back to Dan Hober.

In Satur­day’s Quick­sil­ver Open the men’s re­sults are as fol­lows:

A-Grade Peter Hornsby 65 net, B-Grade P Pur­cell 70 net and C-Grade Bill Everingham 65.

Near­est-the-Pins were B Turn­bull on 6, D Cripps on 8, D In­gram on 10, I Cooke on 13 and Keith Gard on 17.

The Quick­sil­ver Open ladies’ re­sults are as fol­lows:

Division 1 Gen­nai Good­win 67 net, Di­vi­sions 2 and 3 T McKin­non 69 net.

Near­est-the-pins were Pam Shay on 6, Kaye Gil­mour on 8, S Bren­nan on 10, Clare Hop­per on 13 and Car­lie Ed­wards on 17.

In Sun­day’s Quick­sil­ver Open the men’s re­sults are as fol­lows:

A-Grade S Whanarere 70 net, B-Grade P Pur­cell 68 net and C-Grade Rus­sell Hooker 68 net.

Near­est-the-Pins were B Chitham on 6, Matt Smith on 8, C Bow­den on 10, Richard Staines on 13 and Gar­rett Se­nia on 17.

The Quick­sil­ver Open ladies’ re­sults are as fol­lows:

Division 1 Robyn Harper 68 net, Di­vi­sions 2 and 3 Say Choo Lim 72 net. And near­est-the- pins were Cait­lyn Hen­drie on 6, Gen­nai Good­win on 8, Jac­qui Lam­bert on 10, Sharon Dowd on 13 and Vicki Hen­drie on 17.
