Call for un­claimed su­per

WITH nearly $250 mil­lion in su­per­an­nu­a­tion un­claimed by Far North res­i­dents, fi­nan­cial in­sti­tu­tions are urg­ing peo­ple to check they have been paid all of their su­per­an­nu­a­tion en­ti­tle­ments.

A re­port by West­pac Bank dis­cov­ered the lost money and said it equals to $2836 per res­i­dent, which has come af­ter a na­tional fig­ure of lost su­per­an­nu­a­tion to­talling $17.4 bil­lion.

Su­per­an­nu­a­tion is an in­vest­ment for re­tire­ment and the na­tional West­pac Lost Su­per Re­port sug­gest peo­ple need to track down their lost su­per, which is real money that will help in re­tire­ment.

The re­port found 45 per cent of Aus­tralians are likely to have lost su­per­an­nu­a­tion and only 5.6 per cent know they have lost su­per.
