ARTISTS in the Douglas region are encouraged to apply for a share of the money in the next round of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
Applications are now being accepted for the second of two funding rounds for this year.
RADF is a partnership between the Cairns Regional Council and the State Government to support the development of quality art and arts practice in the region.
Mayor Bob Manning said about $80,000 was available in this funding round.
“The program supports professional artists and arts workers and projects that encourage cultural development and community involvement,” he said.
“RADF helps to get worthwhile projects off the ground - projects that have provided professional development for our region’s talented artists and that have benefitted our community.”
Projects that have previously received funding include community theatre projects, environmental art installations, musical workshops, historical archiving and documentation, dance industry development and cultural tourism initiatives.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact council’s RADF liaison officer at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 4032 6644 to request an application kit. The closing date for applications is September 7.
