THE Mossman Gorge Training Centre is an indigenous eco-tourism business which provides pre-employment, accredited and life skill training programs to prepare students for careers in various roles.

The modern, well-equipped training centre offers nationally recognised qualifications and traineeships with the Mossman Gorge Centre through MEGT Australia Ltd in hospitality, retail, office administration, tourism, horticulture and computer operations.

MEGT aims to increase opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders by providing training and support from dedicated staff to achieve their goals and receive assistance in gaining ongoing employment at the completion of training.

Samantha Martin from MEGT said the training has been received extremely well in Mossman, Port Douglas, Cairns and surrounding communities in the Far North.

“This is a great opportunity for the Mossman Gorge community and other indigenous Australians to be a part of a new business and develop their education and skills into a positive and healthy career pathway,” she said.

“I feel very proud to be a part of this new and exciting business as it has always been my dream to work closely with the indigenous youths in providing a positive role model for them in becoming young indigenous leaders of tomorrow - and what a great place to be living out a dream.”
