Cougars pounce on wounded Crocs

COUGARS pounced again this week and took a strong win with a straight 30-10 over Crocs 1.

Both the Cougars and Crocs started out with low scor­ing but by the sec­ond quar­ter both teams were away. The Cougars’ Nichelle Pitts im­press­ing shoot­ing dom­i­nated the last quar­ter award­ing her the play­ers’ choice award.

And the Cougars’ Cassie Cairns and Gemma Wil­liams were awarded best and fairest for their mid­court and de­fen­sive work.

The sec­ond Division 1 game of the night saw the Young Guns take the win over Rat­tle ’n’ Hum 47-18. The Guns won each quar­ter, util­is­ing their de­fen­sive play­ers and with the mid­court bring­ing it down to the at­tack­ing end.

Me­gan Poo­ley from Rat­tle and the Guns’ Jar­ney Tho- mas were named best and fairest. Rochelle Miller, at­tack­ing Young Guns’ player was awarded best and fairest.

Ring Ins claimed a vic­tory this week over Gun­nars 10-4. Ring Ins lead each quar­ter but Gun­nars came back fight­ing in the last quar­ter. The Play­ers’ choice was awarded to Gun­nars’ de­fen­sive player Casey Kemp.

Jets took on Crocs 2 this week and came out with a 35-22 win. Best and fairest was awarded to mid­court player Natalie Cas­tro from Crocs 2.

Bits ’n’ Pieces had a win this week over Break­ers 17-5. As they lead each quar­ter, they took the fi­nal lead in the last by dou­bling their score. The Play­ers’ choice was awarded to the Break­ers’ Leanna Lo­mas and best and fairest, from Bits ’n’ Pieces, Ka­cie Leath­waite.
