Weekend junior Crocs round up

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

WITH grand final spots on the line, the mighty Port Douglas Crocs were keen to put in a fine performance against the Central Bulldogs on a sunny Sunday morning at Crathern Park.

During the first quarter the fire brigade “had to be called in” because Kalan “Ricciuto” Poole was on fire and this helped to inspire his teammates with Angus “Alessio” van Rouyan rebounding well out of defence linking up with the dashing Daniel “Frank Curcio” Harrington and the improved Coldy “Sav Rocca” Taylor.

Fill-in player Brodie “Len Incigneri” played a solid game and stood tall at crucial times with some outstanding pack marks and long forward kicks. Up forward the two mosquito fleet players in Ethan “Silvagni” Scott and young Luke “Koutoufides” were proving plenty of headaches for the bulldogs’ backline.

Inspired by the Olympic gym- nastics, Dalton “Camporeale” Wall kicked goal of the year with a half pike forward roll which received a huge roar from the crowd which instantly lifted his teammates, in particular Kai “Dipierdomencio” Durie, Hugo “Allan Mertello” Ellison and Sam “Peter Pianto” Wall who had a great game in the ruck.

The coaches’ awards were given to Colby, Kai, Daniel, Brodie and Dalton. and Anthony Long (1). Hugo, Kye and Brodie from the Under 8s were invaluable and showed great skills yet again.

The team is raring to go for the final home game next Sunday. This week’s medal went to Dean Laurence and awards to Jake Sherwell, Kye Durie, Jamie Hudson and Brodie.
