Jail time for drunk hoon

A MOSS­MAN drunk driver caught hooning more than five times over the le­gal al­co­hol limit has been jailed.

The 45-year- old man was busted by Moss­man po­lice last Wed­nes­day around 10.30pm and charged for dis­qual­i­fied driv­ing, drink- driv­ing with a blood-al­co­hol read­ing of .275 and mak­ing un­due noise for spin­ning his tyres.

An hour later po­lice re­leased the man into the care of his fam­ily and spot­ted an item used to smoke cannabis and sub­se­quently charged a 40-year- old Moss­man woman with pos­ses­sion of uten­sil. She was of­fered and ac­cepted drug di­ver­sion.

Community Cor­rec­tions re­voked the man’s pa­role af­ter he was charged and last Sun­day po­lice in­ter­cepted the pair driv­ing in Moss­man and ar­rested the man on a re­turn to prison war­rant.

He is now in cus­tody at Lo­tus Glen prison.

The woman was charged with driv­ing alone on a learner’s per­mit and fail­ing to dis­play L-plates and both will ap­pear in the Moss­man Mag­is­trate’s Court on Oc­to­ber 24.
