Jail time for drunk hoon
A MOSSMAN drunk driver caught hooning more than five times over the legal alcohol limit has been jailed.
The 45-year- old man was busted by Mossman police last Wednesday around 10.30pm and charged for disqualified driving, drink- driving with a blood-alcohol reading of .275 and making undue noise for spinning his tyres.
An hour later police released the man into the care of his family and spotted an item used to smoke cannabis and subsequently charged a 40-year- old Mossman woman with possession of utensil. She was offered and accepted drug diversion.
Community Corrections revoked the man’s parole after he was charged and last Sunday police intercepted the pair driving in Mossman and arrested the man on a return to prison warrant.
He is now in custody at Lotus Glen prison.
The woman was charged with driving alone on a learner’s permit and failing to display L-plates and both will appear in the Mossman Magistrate’s Court on October 24.
