Ab­so­lute beg­giner classes at the DAB

MANY peo­ple of­ten ad­mire art­work but feel as though they have no artis­tic skill and would not know where to start. To help bring out the hid­den artist inside ev­ery­one Dou­glas Arts Base are hold­ing an in­tro­duc­tory course to art. DAB is of­fer­ing an op­por­tu­nity for com­plete be­gin­ners to be in­tro­duced to the world of art by a highly in­spi­ra­tional art teacher and pro­fes­sional Deb­bie Ras­mussen. Set over five weeks, the course is a guided in­tro­duc­tion to mak­ing art and the aim of the classes is to pro­vide a safe and sup­port­ive en­vi­ron­ment for be­gin­ners re­luc- tant to start art. Students will learn about the el­e­ments which artists use to make art and have time to use these el­e­ments to cre­ate their own work and ev­ery work is a suc­cess, there are no fail­ures. Be in­spired by works of fa­mous artists, which are ex­plored ev­ery week dur­ing the three hour ses­sions and ex­em­plify the con­cept be­ing taught. The course will be held Thurs­day evenings start­ing from Oc­to­ber 18 and goes from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
