Also known as indoor soccer, Futsal is a popular game played worldwide indoors on a court similar in size to netball with five-a-side, including the goalie and women are welcome to come along and show up the males.

Sign up tonight is open to players as young as under six through to open and if there is enough interest from the women, they will hold a separate competition but if not, it will be a mixed competition.

DUFC treasurer Jenny Elphinstone said everyone is welcome to come along, the season is expected to run through until December every Thursday night at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre.

“Experience is not necessary, the junior program will have a compo- nent of training with it and it’s fun, fast and gets you fit,” she said,.

“It’s something to do in the wet season and it maintains skills for our players and commence a program for participation to increase numbers and provides an opportunity for ladies and girls to get involved in this sport, come and try and find out what it’s all about.”

While the club relocates to the indoor centre for the Futsal season, it gives the club an opportunity to upgrade its field and clubhouse through a grant the club just received.

You need to wear runners for indoors and bring along shin pads - if you do not have any the club has a couple of spare shin-pads.

Sign- on is today at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre, juniors from 5 to 6pm and seniors from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
