KANGAROOS captain Cameron Smith and Souths superstar Greg Inglis will be among the legendary names of rugby league, rugby union and cricket in town next Thursday as special guests at QT Port Douglas Sportman’s Dinner.
Former Australian Rugby League halfback Billy J Smith will be MC on the night and will have many tales after representing Australian in 18 Tests and eight World Cup games, including captaining Australia in a World Cup game against Great Britain in 1970.
Current captain for the Australian team, the Queensland State of Origin team and Melbourne Storms, Cameron Smith will grace Port Douglas with his mighty presence for the dinner.
League legends who will also be attending the dinner include Queensland State of Origin, Australian international repre- sentative and current Rabbitohs fullback Greg Inglis and talented Bulldogs prop Aiden Tolman.
Representing all things great about rugby union will be Elton Flatley, former Australian international rugby union footballer and Queensland Reds player.
To round out the special guest list, the first batsman to reach 1000 runs in the Pura Cup playing for Queensland, Jimmy Maher, will also be a special guest on the night, bringing to the table a Queensland cricketer legend.
QT Port Douglas public relations manager Wendy Porter encourages everyone to come along and enjoy a beautiful dinner, meet the sporting greats and help raise money for a good cause.
“All proceeds go to Camp Quality and it’s going to be a three course meal with a four-hour drink package of beer and wine from 6.30pm to 10.30pm and the guests coming is exciting,” she said.
“There will be a little bit of banter, they will probably get up on stage and it’s definitely an adult only event because being a sportsman’s dinner there’ll be a bit of swearing going on.”
In a bid to raise money for the charity and to help every Douglas sporting fan’s collections, there will be a charity auction of sporting memorabilia on the night.
The Sportsman’s Dinner will be held in QT Port Douglas’s Manhattan Ballroom, tickets cost $99 per person or $900 for a table of 10 and all proceeds to the legendary night will go to Camp Quality.
