Port cleared of Hen­dra

AF­TER three rounds of test­ing, a Port Dou­glas prop­erty has been cleared of the Hen­dra Virus and quar­an­tine re­stric­tions lifted by Biose­cu­rity Queens­land. At the be­gin­ning of Septem­ber a horse died of Hen­dra on the prop­erty op­po­site the Port Dou­glas air park owned by Cindy and Brad Small - the sus­pected cause be­ing bats fly­ing over­head en route to Ju­lat­ten. Thir­teen horses, the fam­ily dogs were all un­der quar­an­tine af­ter be­ing ex­posed to the virus, but have since been cleared and can now be moved on and off the prop­erty.
