Sheraton represents region in Las Vegas
THE Sheraton Mirage flew the flag for the region at the US’s largest meetings industry trade show last week. Director of sales and marketing Elena Fragasso represented Sheraton Mirage and Port Douglas at the IMEX America exhibition in Las Vegas. Ms Fragasso was among the 2000-plus exhibiting companies to showcase their destination, venues, products and services to 2400 buyers from North America and 43 other global markets at the three-day trade show. “This is the second year the exhibition has been held in the US, and it was a huge success. It attracts over 2000 buyers and all key performance measures were up on last year’s show,” Elena said “The event really showed the US is bouncing back from an economic perspective, which obviously has a great impact on Australian tourism. “Australia is a one of the top destinations for the US market, and a really aspirational destination for the US market.” The incentive travel show is a key marketing tool as the meetings and incentive event to combines attendance by a major outbound market with hosted international buyers. Elena feels that the successful event could be utilised further to market the Port Douglas region to key buyers.
