Portoberfest to transform marina
PORTOBERFEST is set to bring a little bit of Bavaria to Port Douglas next weekend with a smorgasbord of world beers, dancing frauleins, bratwursts and steins filling the Port Douglas marina boardwalk.
More than 1000 revellers are expected to pack out the iconic marina boardwalk, with organiser Wayne Stapleton promising to deliver the most entertaining Portoberfest yet.
“I wanted to take Portoberfest to a whole different perspective, bring it to a whole new level,” the Lure restaurateur said.
“It’s going to be huge this year, we anticipate record crowds, as people come to taste the beers, enjoy the food, music and entertainment.”
Beer enthusiasts will have the choice of 30 international beers to sample, among the eight different international beer tents, and tressel tables will line the boardwalk, to recreate the feel of a beer hall.
Dynamic four-piece band Hip2soul will entertain the crowds with their own brand of soul/funk/rock, and the Portoberfest dancing girls will be taking to the stage throughout the day with traditional dances, including the well-loved customary slapdance.
The free event will be held on Saturday, October 27, from 2pm-9pm.
For extra indulgence VIP passes are available, priced at $150 each or four tickets for the price of three, allowing access to the VIP area covering the price all food and drink, a souvenir stein, and service by the Portoberfest waitresses. Purchase must be made before the event.
