Sail­ing Cham­pi­onship draws to ex­cit­ing fin­ish

THE Po­sei­don Sail­away Club Cham­pi­onship draws to an ex­hil­a­rat­ing close this week­end as the fi­nal two races of the 24 race spring se­ries go un­der­way.

The Spring se­ries re­mains wide open, with five yachts in con­tention for the ti­tle, and three bat­tling it out for over­all Club Cham­pion and a share in the $1000 prize pool do­nated by ma­jor spon­sor Po­sei­don and Sail­away.

Only two points cur­rently sep­a­rate the top three con­tenders for Club Cham­pion af­ter two dropped scores in last Satur­day’s race, Magic cur­rently hold- ing a slen­der lead over Ice and Ann Sea for Club Cham­pi­onship.

Ice took out pole po­si­tion on Satur­day’s Club Cham­pion race 22, with a time of 55.52 min­utes, Jim­mie Black­smith fol­lowed closely be­hind at 57.39, and Ruff Red came in third at 1.01.36.

Jim­mie Black­smith re­tained first over­all for the Spring Se­ries, with Ruff Red and Magic locked in a tie for sec­ond place, marginally ahead of Ice and Ann Sea.

This Satur­day’s race is set to be a tense one, with the cur­rent points en­sur­ing a must win race for all chal­leng­ing boats.
