Patch n’ paddle

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

GIANT pumpkin kayaking appears to be quite a popular pastime throughout this crazy world of ours, including longstanding events in the USA ( Tualatin OR and Burlington VT) and Ludwigsburg, Germany.

All of these events follow the same basic pattern of paddling a giant pumpkin as far as you can and as quickly as you can.

The race organiser in Tualatin has given potential competitors the following advice: “Once you get used to the tipping-ness, it’s just a matter of paddling hard and trying not to spin in circles, because pumpkins aren’t really designed to go straight.”

So all you need is a 450kg-plus pumpking, hollow it out, grab a paddle and then you’re on your way to a pumpkin good time.
