One false step costs

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

ONE wrong move has seen one Mossman man cop $3600 in fines after breaching his bail conditions and being caught in possession of a bong.

Zeke Dowdle failed to attend the Mossman Police Station on October 9 as part of his parole conditions and when police went to speak with him, they discovered him in possession of a bong and subsequently charged him on October 16 for both charges.

Magistrate Braes told Dowdle his had come within a “hairs breath away from prison” and if there was another offence there would be a “bed waiting for you (Mr Dowdle) at Lotus Glen”.

Dowdle received a $300 fine for breaching bail conditions, $300 for possession of a utensil, $500 for breaching two counts of a community service order for failing to do his community service and $2500 for several previous convictions.
