Talent shines through

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - CLASSIFIEDS - GOLF

MOSSMAN’S junior golf talent shone brightly again last weekend when a small contingent of 13 golfers took part in the annual Atherton Junior Golf Open Classic.

The Mossman juniors once again proved to be a dominant force in regional junior golf.

The entire contingent played magnificently, many achieving personal best scores and none shone more brightly in the Tadpole nine-hole girls than Claire Deuble and Mackenzie Barry who took out the Gross Winner and Gross Runner Up titles respectively, followed by Wade Duncan whom was gross runner up in the 9 hole Novice division narrowly beaten by two shots.

Not to be outdone, his six-year- old younger brother Couper Smith won the ninehole boys tadpole division and was awarded the gross winner title.

Heath Barry scored a nearest to the pin award for sharp shooting on a par three hole, and pint sized Mackenzie Barry and Couper Smith receiving additional prizes for slick putting performances tallying the least putts over the course of the championship. Junior Golf clinics are on Tuesday at 5pm at the Mossman Golf Club.
