Man charged af­ter glassing

A 21-YEAR-OLD Moss­man man has been charged af­ter al­legedly smash­ing a Port Dou­glas man in the head with a glass.

The 35-year-old Port Dou­glas man’s neck was cut in the at­tack at Paddy’s Ir­ish Pub last Satur­day night.

The glassing in­ci­dent oc­curred af­ter a ver­bal al­ter­ca­tion be­tween the men about 11pm, which also re­sulted in two men be­ing charged with pub­lic nui­sance af­ter the event.

Paddy’s part-owner Danny Gray, who also man­ages Rat­tle ‘n’ Hum, said the al­leged of­fender will be banned from ev­ery pub signed up to the Port Dou­glas Liquor Ac­cord.

‘‘We don’t want that sort of stuff hap­pen­ing in Port, there’s no need for it es­pe­cially in a town like this,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s not ac­cept­able and won’t be tol­er­ated - he won’t be show­ing his face in this town.’’

Li­censed busi­nesses in the Port Dou­glas Liquor Ac­cord also in­clude the Iron Bar, Cen­tral and Court House.
