Sassi glad to be home

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

SASSI has relocated to its former digs on the corner of Macrossan and Wharf Streets and is ready to serve up its delicious and decadent brand of Italian contemporary cuisine.

Sassi Cucina e Bar opened for service yesterday and will have an official opening after Easter, with owners Tony and Di Sassi welcoming everyone to the restaurant to enjoy classic Sassi cuisine.

‘‘It feels great to be back in our spot and Tony’s got a great loyal team in the kitchen, he is excited to be back by the sea as he came from beside the sea in Italy,’’ Di said.

‘‘Sassi is its own style, contemporary Italian adapted to the tropics, there’s a lot of seafood and on this menu Tony is also cooking goat, there’s a pork dish and our steak, our gorgeous big rib eye on the bone and fillet steak.

‘‘It’s good to have our bar back, I built that bar back in 2002, so it’s nice to be back and Mark Ferguson will be heading up the front of the house.’’

They are also offering an affordable and delicious bar menu, including a tradies lunch special for the locals to enjoy including Italian pizzas, tapas and pastas and the option of street seating and tempting cocktails.

Bookings are recommended. Contact Sassi Cucina e Bar on 4099 6744.
