2013 has certainly started with some great positive outcomes. Our major international markets are rebounding with North America, Germany, NZ and rest of Europe all performing well, with UK holding its own.
There are some great flight deals coming through, some under $100 ex Melbourne. This all bides well for our domestic market.
Tourism Australia has launched their Best Jobs in the World campaign, based on the successful Tourism Queensland campaign. Within 24 hours of the launch in the UK, they had already received over 20,000 entries.
Our media familiarisation went extremely well, and it shouldn’t be long before we see some great articles in New Idea, Qantas Inflight magazine, the Sunday papers’ Escape section and much more.
Our e marketing campaign closed this week with over 4600 entries to win a holiday in Paradise. Our website visitation was up 58 per cent on the same period last year and our Facebook campaign reached an incredible seven million people.
Also good news, was the support of Tourism Events Queennsland in NZ enabling us to insert 120,000 copies of Discover Paradise into the NZ weekend papers and Tourism Tropical North Queensland helping us increase our distribution in the Weekend Australian to all of Victoria, NSW and some regional Queensland.
This gives our region, a dedicated destination marketing publication reaching in excess of 280,000 people in our prime markets, a campaign many Regional Tourism bodies would like to achieve. It is only working in partnership with local industry and our tourism bodies that we can achieve such great exposure. Our major campaign activity rolls out between now and June so 2013 is shaping up to be a cracker of a year.
