2013 has cer­tainly started with some great pos­i­tive out­comes. Our ma­jor in­ter­na­tional mar­kets are re­bound­ing with North Amer­ica, Ger­many, NZ and rest of Europe all per­form­ing well, with UK hold­ing its own.

There are some great flight deals coming through, some un­der $100 ex Mel­bourne. This all bides well for our domestic mar­ket.

Tourism Aus­tralia has launched their Best Jobs in the World cam­paign, based on the suc­cess­ful Tourism Queens­land cam­paign. Within 24 hours of the launch in the UK, they had al­ready re­ceived over 20,000 en­tries.

Our me­dia fa­mil­iari­sa­tion went ex­tremely well, and it shouldn’t be long be­fore we see some great ar­ti­cles in New Idea, Qan­tas In­flight mag­a­zine, the Sun­day pa­pers’ Es­cape sec­tion and much more.

Our e mar­ket­ing cam­paign closed this week with over 4600 en­tries to win a hol­i­day in Par­adise. Our web­site visi­ta­tion was up 58 per cent on the same pe­riod last year and our Face­book cam­paign reached an in­cred­i­ble seven mil­lion peo­ple.

Also good news, was the sup­port of Tourism Events Queenns­land in NZ en­abling us to in­sert 120,000 copies of Dis­cover Par­adise into the NZ week­end pa­pers and Tourism Trop­i­cal North Queens­land help­ing us in­crease our distri­bu­tion in the Week­end Aus­tralian to all of Vic­to­ria, NSW and some re­gional Queens­land.

This gives our re­gion, a ded­i­cated des­ti­na­tion mar­ket­ing publi­ca­tion reach­ing in ex­cess of 280,000 peo­ple in our prime mar­kets, a cam­paign many Re­gional Tourism bod­ies would like to achieve. It is only work­ing in part­ner­ship with lo­cal in­dus­try and our tourism bod­ies that we can achieve such great ex­po­sure. Our ma­jor cam­paign ac­tiv­ity rolls out be­tween now and June so 2013 is shap­ing up to be a cracker of a year.
