NEW Moss­man am­bu­lance of­fi­cer-in-charge Michelle Boul­cer means busi­ness - the busi­ness of help­ing peo­ple in need and keep­ing the com­mu­nity safe.

While only two weeks into the job, Ms Boul­cer has brought with her 13 years ex­pe­ri­ence in the am­bu­lance ser­vice, pre­vi­ously work­ing in var­i­ous places in­clud­ing Port Dou­glas, Table­lands and Toowoomba be­fore mak­ing her way to Moss­man.

Apart from en­joy­ing the beauty of the re­gion, Ms Boul­cer said the most re­ward­ing part of her job so far is be­ing able to help peo­ple and work­ing with a great team.

‘‘I really like the pa­tient side of my job, help­ing peo­ple and also the ca­ma­raderie that comes from our job and in­ter­ac­tion with other ser­vices,’’ she said.

‘‘It has been a great ex­pe­ri­ence meet­ing some of the staff I am work­ing with, ev­ery­one is friendly, ea­ger to help out and are fo­cused on look­ing af­ter our pa­tients.’’

Hav­ing been born in Cairns and also work­ing pre­vi­ously in Port Dou­glas, Ms Boul­cer is fa­mil­iar with the area and be­lieves she is the right woman for the job.

‘‘I bring a com­mit­ment to the peo­ple of Moss­man and sur­rounds of de­liv­er­ing high qual­ity ser­vice at all times,’’ she said.

‘‘I am keen to work with the com­mu­nity and build a good re­la­tion­ship - 90 per cent of our job is good com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, hav­ing em­pa­thy and com­pas­sion and I am bring­ing lead­er­ship and a fo­cus on good pa­tient care.’’
