Sharks falter

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

THE Mossman-Port Douglas Sharks season got off to a rocky start with a 20-point loss to Ivanhoe last weekend.

Both grades stood up and played hard and the first grade team blew out the cobwebs and played some good football but the determined Ivanhoe side were victorious with a convincing 42-22 win.

Club president Bronson Ryan said after one of the boys were sent off, the team played with 12 players for about 10 minutes which hurt the team as a whole.

‘‘We really need to work on our fitness and discipline as a team and hopefully we will get some better results in the coming weeks,’’ he said.

‘‘We know we can play better, so we will continue to train hard this week.

‘‘We are looking for a big game this weekend, it will help us prepare for the home game next week.’’

The Sharks will head away this weekend for their game against the Brothers Innisfail on Saturday at Calendar Park at 7pm.
