Po­lice search for wash thief

MOSS­MAN de­tec­tives are search­ing for any­one who can iden­tify a man in re­la­tion to a theft that oc­curred at the Port Auto Car Wash last Tues­day morn­ing.

The theft hap­pened around 1.30am on March 12.

The man is de­scribed as cau­casian aged in his late 20s or early 30s, with a tat­too on his left fore­arm above his wrist.

He was caught on cam­era footage break­ing into a money ma­chine and steal­ing over $1300 in cash.

The man was seen wear­ing a black ma­te­rial on his head to hide his hair, black socks on his feet and black at­tire.

A 31-year-old Port Dou­glas man who had re­cently moved from Mel­bourne was also charged in re­la­tion to the in­ci­dent on two counts of steal­ing and has been re­leased on bail to ap­pear in the Moss­man Mag­is­trate’s Court March 27.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
