Thank pizza it’s Friday

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

MT MOLLOY State School students and community members can now enjoy fresh bread and pizza every Friday as part of the innovative Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.

Principal Janene Harrison said transforming a classroom into a new kitchen, extending the school’s food garden and incorporating the SAKG program into the new curriculum had proved a rewarding challenge for students and staff.

‘‘At the end of last year we decided to purchase a wood-fired pizza oven to complement the outdoor eating area and to also encourage the community into the school,’’ she said.

‘‘Whether to volunteer in the kitchen or garden, attend a school function, working bee or workshop, or to make use of this amazing resource by holding their own function, community involvement is encouraged.’’ For more information on the program visit www.kitchengardenfoundation.org.au or call the school on 40914261.
