MT MOLLOY State School stu­dents and com­mu­nity mem­bers can now en­joy fresh bread and pizza ev­ery Fri­day as part of the in­no­va­tive Stephanie Alexan­der Kitchen Garden Pro­gram.

Prin­ci­pal Janene Har­ri­son said trans­form­ing a class­room into a new kitchen, ex­tend­ing the school’s food garden and in­cor­po­rat­ing the SAKG pro­gram into the new cur­ricu­lum had proved a re­ward­ing chal­lenge for stu­dents and staff.

‘‘At the end of last year we de­cided to pur­chase a wood-fired pizza oven to com­ple­ment the out­door eat­ing area and to also en­cour­age the com­mu­nity into the school,’’ she said.

‘‘Whether to vol­un­teer in the kitchen or garden, at­tend a school func­tion, work­ing bee or work­shop, or to make use of this amaz­ing re­source by hold­ing their own func­tion, com­mu­nity involvement is en­cour­aged.’’ For more in­for­ma­tion on the pro­gram visit­gar­den­foun­da­ or call the school on 40914261.
