Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - LETTERS -

JUST how representative was the vote when so many ratepayers who do not live in town and so many ratepayers who do live in town were not eligible to vote? But the die is cast and we must live with and support it as best we can. To those aspiring councillors, think very carefully about the job because from now, the ongoing scrutiny will be unbelievable perhaps even unbearable. This also applies to Julia Leu and those people happy to have their photos taken as yes men and women. You are all on notice to perform, no excuses whatsoever, no blaming Cairns Regional Council, or not being informed at the time or we didn’t realise. If it doesn’t happen or prices go up and services go down, you will be held accountable. To those who said ‘‘independence at any price’’, perhaps you will also like to pay any increased costs for those of us who rely solely on a Centrelink pension.
