SHORT AND SWEET

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - LETTERS -

Port Douglas and Mossman Gazette - Wonga Beach residents, what are your thoughts on local youths getting into trouble with the police? Have you, your family or friends had issued with Wonga youths causing trouble? David Motbey - charge the parents aswell an public beatings for the little shits that runamuk there. Wil Waasdorp - it wouldn’t be so bad if the council spent the time and funds on giving the kids somewhere to go and occupy themselves. such as emproving the bmx track, build skate ramps, beach volley ball or basketball courts, even a section of land allocated to become a botanical garden where kids can go once a month and plant trees and plants and learn about how to care for local environment. surely things like this would put a dent in the crime caused by youth in wonga create an opportunity for these kids as even our two daughters wish there was more to do here in wonga. Alex Heidke - It’s not just wonga. Bored kids roam in mossman burbs too. Melissa Hills - Community bus so they can come into mossman to use skate park and other activities, fine the parents when there kids are running around after 7pm. David Motbey - a burnout pad would be in favour!!keep the kids an adults something to do day an night, but then the cops would pick on em bout there cars then so ya cant win :-( Jessie Forrest - I grew up in a place similar to Wonga and we kept ourselves occupied and out of trouble. I’m sure there’s a small parcel of land around the home that they can create a garden from, you can also buy basketball hoops for about $30 and attach them yourself to a pole or garage and you can buy beach volley ball kits on eBay for about the same price. Community areas are a fantastic idea but I’d be looking to the parents not the council to take responsibility for youth entertainment in the interim. Wil Waasdorp - even a motor x track close to wonga so it does’t annoy the residents as there is many kids with bikes. this would be an option like i said its up to the community and council to work together to keep them off the st
