Miss Carnivale makeover
ANYONE keen to find out more about becoming Miss Carnivale can meet the organisers on Saturday and potentially launch their modelling career.
Miss Carnivale is open to young women between the ages of 16-25 who want to become an ambassador for Carnivale, to be held from May 17-26.
Organisers are giving local hopefuls the chance to meet with them and discuss the opportunities on offer for being an integral part of the festival.
Miss Carnivale will represent the festival in media engagements in the lead up to and during the event and will be featured in the Macrossan Street Parade, prize-givings, awards, events and launches.
Carnivale manager Ken Dobbs said they are looking for bright, fresh-faced talent with an outgoing image to represent the festival.
‘‘This is a great opportunity particularly if they want a career in modelling because they will be groomed under the wing of Platinum Modelling,’’ he said.
‘‘ It’s also about being an ambassador for Carnivale and getting bit of a profile and an introduction to community activities.
‘‘It’s certainly a great benefit for someone who wants to work with the community and learn how to present themselves in public.’’
The age of entrants has increased to 25 this year to open up the opportunity to more women and put more emphasis on being an ambassador.
The winner of Miss Carnivale will receive a 12-month modelling contract with Platinum Model Management and automatic entry into either the Miss Teen Australia or another international scale modelling competition.
Although competition will be fierce, there are opportunities for every Miss Carnivale entrant to make the most of representing the festival during the different events and having some fun, according to Platinum Model Management owner Jade Turnbull who is helping organise the event.
‘‘We are looking for girls with a strong community spirit, who are passionate about Port Douglas Carnivale and are willing to freely give their time in the lead up to and during the event,’’ she said.
The introduction to organisers and registration for Miss Carnivale will be held at Attitudes Boutique on Macrossan St from 9am-10.30am on Saturday.
Miss Carnivale 2013 will be crowned at the official launch of Port Douglas Carnivale at the Combined Club on Friday, April 19. For more information visit www. platinumpromotionsaustralia.com, email platinum email@example.com or contact Jade Turnbull 0448 407 103.
