ANY­ONE keen to find out more about be­com­ing Miss Car­ni­vale can meet the or­gan­is­ers on Satur­day and po­ten­tially launch their mod­el­ling ca­reer.

Miss Car­ni­vale is open to young women be­tween the ages of 16-25 who want to be­come an am­bas­sador for Car­ni­vale, to be held from May 17-26.

Or­gan­is­ers are giv­ing lo­cal hope­fuls the chance to meet with them and dis­cuss the op­por­tu­ni­ties on of­fer for be­ing an in­te­gral part of the fes­ti­val.

Miss Car­ni­vale will rep­re­sent the fes­ti­val in me­dia en­gage­ments in the lead up to and dur­ing the event and will be fea­tured in the Macrossan Street Pa­rade, prize-giv­ings, awards, events and launches.

Car­ni­vale man­ager Ken Dobbs said they are look­ing for bright, fresh-faced tal­ent with an out­go­ing im­age to rep­re­sent the fes­ti­val.

‘‘This is a great op­por­tu­nity par­tic­u­larly if they want a ca­reer in mod­el­ling be­cause they will be groomed un­der the wing of Plat­inum Mod­el­ling,’’ he said.

‘‘ It’s also about be­ing an am­bas­sador for Car­ni­vale and get­ting bit of a pro­file and an in­tro­duc­tion to com­mu­nity ac­tiv­i­ties.

‘‘It’s cer­tainly a great ben­e­fit for some­one who wants to work with the com­mu­nity and learn how to present them­selves in pub­lic.’’

The age of en­trants has in­creased to 25 this year to open up the op­por­tu­nity to more women and put more em­pha­sis on be­ing an am­bas­sador.

The win­ner of Miss Car­ni­vale will re­ceive a 12-month mod­el­ling con­tract with Plat­inum Model Man­age­ment and au­to­matic en­try into ei­ther the Miss Teen Aus­tralia or an­other in­ter­na­tional scale mod­el­ling com­pe­ti­tion.

Although com­pe­ti­tion will be fierce, there are op­por­tu­ni­ties for ev­ery Miss Car­ni­vale en­trant to make the most of rep­re­sent­ing the fes­ti­val dur­ing the dif­fer­ent events and hav­ing some fun, ac­cord­ing to Plat­inum Model Man­age­ment owner Jade Turn­bull who is help­ing or­gan­ise the event.

‘‘We are look­ing for girls with a strong com­mu­nity spirit, who are passionate about Port Dou­glas Car­ni­vale and are will­ing to freely give their time in the lead up to and dur­ing the event,’’ she said.

The in­tro­duc­tion to or­gan­is­ers and reg­is­tra­tion for Miss Car­ni­vale will be held at At­ti­tudes Bou­tique on Macrossan St from 9am-10.30am on Satur­day.
