Jnr Crocs mix it up
PLAYED in perfect conditions with the slight distraction of low flying planes, the mighty Port Douglas Crocs Under8s travelled to Holloways Beach for their round two encounter against the Lions.
After an even first quarter, the lions kicked the first two opening goals, despite great defensive efforts from Gus, Tyler and Ethan.
In the middle Big Taj, battled hard all day, as to the improved efforts of Andrew, Jai who rucked well, each making solid efforts with big clearing kicks and first game player Jessiah impressed.
Highlight of the day was two clever goals from Kalan and for his first goal of his career and no doubt many more will follow from Jetson who received a massive roar from two very proud parents on the sidelines.
Young Taj was also effective in the forward line setting up one magical play which resulted in a fine team goal.
Coach’s awards went to Andrew, Taj, Jessiah and little Taj.
The Under-10s Crocs had a tight battle on the weekend with the Cairns City Lions.
Even with some tall opposition young gun forward Jamie Hudson snagged a couple of goals in the first quarter.
The young Croc’s showed some great skills throughout the game and their teamwork through the middle and coming out of the backline was outstanding.
Player of the day went to a very deserving Jake Sherwell who ran his little legs off all day. Macca’s awards went to Daniel Harrington, 2 goal kicker Slade Roberts and captain of the day Scott Cooper.
THE Under-12 Port Douglas Crocs enjoyed a narrow win over the Cairns City Lions at Holloways Beach.
A solid week of skills, fitness and one-on-one pressure drills in training paid off for the boys who played a much cleaner and competitive game.
The Lions led for the first three quarters, but a rev-up at three quarter time fired up the Crocs, keeping the Lions scoreless in the last term to win by nine points.
Daniel Davidson kicked four goals for the Crocs, while Jack Harrington, Mitchell Budge and Ryan Bourguignon each kicked a goal.
Man of the match was awarded to Ryan Bourguignon, Encouragement Awards went to Mitchell Budge and Cameron Stevensen , while D’Lea Holcroft received the medal.
The Under-14 Crocs had a disappointing loss to the Saints, 10.11.71 to 1.1.7.
The side showed plenty of spirit and were good in the contests, but disposal let them down with an inability to hit targets.
Ben Muia kicked the Crocs only goal. Best players were San Evans, Hugo Walker, Charlie Burns and Fraser Allen.
