Massive police blitz planned
NEAR-RECORD numbers of police officers will be hitting the streets across the region this weekend in a zero-tolerance road safety Easter blitz. Police will alert during the crackdown on driver behaviour in an attempt to curb the high volume of traffic incidents common at Easter. Queensland Police Inspector Jim Plowman said the blitz would involve one of the largest deployments of officers in a single holiday operation for the region. ‘‘We have concerns for people travelling long distances for what is a short holiday period .’’ he said.
