I do new owners
I DO Fitness gym in Mossman has a new owner and a fresh take on keeping everybody of all ages fit and healthy.
Tanya Stephens is the motivated new owner and has incorporated new classes into the already successful gym for youths, adults and seniors.
‘‘I have a background in youth management and coordinating programs and I wanted to put together fitness and youth with sport,’’ she said.
‘‘We are bringing in all youth programs, we have got boxing, kickboxing, Nogi Brazillian jiu-jitsu, judo and mixed martial arts, which is a big one that rolls all of those discliplines into one class.’’
I Do Fitness is the only gym north of Cairns which has cardio equipment, a pool and a fully padded dojo and qualified trainers for the courses.
Another new addition to I Do Fitness is a youth ‘‘chill-out zone’’ for gym members which has tables and chairs and will soon add free wireless internet.
‘‘We will have in-house fitness and strength competitions for the youths, we’ve got a bench-press competition coming up and we will organise external organisations to host programs here for the youth and outside social sporting events, like have a game of cricket or footy,’’ Ms Stephens said.
‘‘I believe should start being active young and keep going throughout to reduce illness when older, for weight management and it teaches them discipline, stress relief and can be used for a number of things including rehabilitation.’’
Mums and Dads can bring their kids aged 10 or older to the youth chill out zone while they train and there are classes for all ages up to seniors, with free programs and monitoring for gym members.
